Special Vid For A Special Day...

In honor of today, I decided to post (in my opinion) one of my favorite live performances ever…

This video is of All Time Low performing “Six Feet Under The Stars” at the Uniondale, NY stop of the 2008 Vans Warped Tour. I just-so-happened to be in the audience that day and to this day, it is my favorite live set that I have ever seen.

The sweat, screams from every fan in that audience, heat, and near-dying experience just made every note even more memorable.

I remember looking up to the photo pit and even seeing all the photographers singing along and having the time of their lives, just like I was behind the barricades. As I saw one singing along to “Six Feet,” I knew I just had to get into that photo pit someday.

Who knew that day would come this summer? I got the chance to take epic photos like this:

and will never forget it. I sang along to “Six Feet” from the photo pit just like I wanted to the year before and it was one of the best experiences of my life.

Thanks to everyone who helped me move those six feet from the fan pit to the photo pit. You don’t even understand how much it means to me. I’ve had the chance to do so much in the past year and I will never forget it. 19 years have gone by already and I hope there are wayy more to come, so keep up the support and I’ll do the same back.

Livin’ the dream, one day at a time.

    Sorry for sounding cheesy…

    Adam :P

    A DUSTLAND FAIRYTALE

    iamelliotjames:

I moved to Florida from England right after my 13th birthday. I had always been told America was the land of opportunity. My life so far has been a living testament of just that. I’ve dared to be a day dreamer and act on those dreams for as long as i can remember. Which has now brought me to this next chapter. So here we are. First off i have to say how completely flattered i am by all of you who have shown your love and good feelings towards my decision to leave Hey Monday. For those of you that are devastated i will do my best to reach out to you as my intention in leaving was never to upset anyone. What i can gather from what a lot of you are saying on all the other sites is that you’d like to know why exactly it is that i left. Like i said in my statement with the bands, it is never easy for anyone to walk away from any opportunity to do what they love, especially if that opportunity involves living your passion every day. For me as much as i loved being apart of such a moving band i had gotten to a point where my interests weren’t the same as the other members of the bands. Hey Monday has dreams, and i have dreams of my own, as i’m sure every single of one of you do, and i encourage everyone to fight for those and never settle for anything less than what you think you deserve. Always be true to yourself and follow your heart, and never get in the way of anyone trying to follow theres. As cliche as it might sound, you’ve got to love you for you, and be honest with yourself. I believe in being part of a team, because i think theres power in numbers. I would never want to let any team i was apart of down so despite a change in feelings for myself i was staying in Hey Monday in the hopes that i wouldn’t let my team down. With that being said though, for a team to work every member has got to strive for the same direction and at this current time in my life I’m choosing a new direction. I know for many this is not ideal. As much as i am the guy on stage, I’m also the fan on the other side of the barricade. I have idols, I admire others entertainers and artists, I see people i love walk out of my favorite bands too for one reason or another, i know how much it can hurt when you have an attachment to something like that.

To the ones that want to know my next move, you should know me better by now to know i never give myself away that easy. There’s a silver lining to every storm ball, I’ve counted my blessings, and a whole new set of opportunities have already begun to present themselves. Expect to see my in the studio, on the road again, and doing what i do best, and what i love best, performing, in no time at all. The future is looking brighter from where I’m standing, don’t let the sun blind you on the horizon line. Stick this out with me and I’ll make it worth your while as always, still got a few tricks up my sleeve.

Please know that my time in Hey Monday has been the best times of my life to date. I would never trade anything for it. I feel like i’m in debt to every person thats given me the chance to do what i love doing every day. So if thank you’s are still good for something then i owe a million to Jay Harren, Rohan, Bret, Milo, Scott, Rob, Gabby, Bob, JD, Sam, Dave, Jason, Becky, Brent, Andrew Keller, Jamie Humphries, Jeff Perry, Erika, Jen Mallory, Duncan Johnson, Jen Citron, JJ Cassiere, Frosty, Pete, Brady, Dave Watson, Beth, Cat, Matt Galle, Jake Ottmann, Doneen, Slay J, Joe Clay, Zach, Jenna, Perry, Tim, Luga, Noah S, Nano, Danny K, Nick Scimeca, Amanda, Ryan Miller, Jeremy Michaels, Chris Martin, David, Alex, JM, Oscar, Josh W, Tyler, AJ, Joey BDH, Marky GK, Mike Cipcari, Bryan, Michael Berlin, Kip Beelman, Steve Scal, Patrick IQ, Andrew and Eric, Alex Collins, Leigh, Spencer, Nano, Cal Knapp, Behringer, Delicious, Dan Rosenburg,Taya, Machi, Hiro, Rei, Chet Cannon, Both Chris V’s, CP, Brendan Klein, Kyle K, Dylan, Bil Doc, T Fair, Nick Santino, Eric Holv, Loren, Alex DeLeon, Cash, Johnson, Marshall, Sonny, Ian, Dan, David, Andy, Gavin, Porter, William Beck, Butcher, Sisky, Guy, Mike, Travis, Hunter, Danny, Drew, Scoot, Chad, Max, Rian, Alex, Jack, Zach, Flyzick, Greco, Rooster, Patrick, Pete, Joe, Andy, Henry, Justin, Dre, AJ, Marcus, Diaz, Kadavar, Danny Hutto, Gabe, Vicky, Ryland, Nate, Suarez, BND, Ant, Trace, Mason, Blake, Martin, Beef, Bryan, Paul, Johnny, Mayday, Bigger Lights, Out Of Sight, Stereo, Every Ave, Friday Night Boys, Versa, ADTR, Hush Sound, There For Tomorrow, Cartel, and every band out there thats been good to me. Thank for keeping it real. Every fan, every person that bought a ticket, every person that loved it, every person that hated it, all the people on AP, every person i’ve ever talked to after a show, every person that sold me cereal at a rest stop, every person thats bought my art, every person that made fun of me for looking good in tight pants, every person that watched me play, every person that brought my gifts birthday or not, people all over america, in canada, england, scotland, wales, japan, singapore, manila, australia, new zealand, that came to a show, people everywhere in the world that talked to me, added me, or listened to me, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Finally, thank you to Cass, Jers, Pimpshaw, and Mike, you don’t an explanation to know how much i feel for you guys. Do great thing, i know you will. LTD

    It’s been a pleasure,

    Hey Monday News

Just like my earlier blog post said, such a genuinely nice guy. WTBU (as well as myself) wish him, and the band, all the best!

From the Hey Monday MySpace Blog:

Elliot parts ways with Hey Monday
Hello Hey Mondayers. We have been so lucky up to this point that it’s kind of scary; we are so very grateful for everything we’ve had so far. However, being on the road definitely teaches you a lot about yourself. All of us have grown so close this past year, and can read each other like books. This will probably come as a surprise, but Elliot has decided to part ways with Hey Monday to pursue other interests. We could see for some time now that he was sticking it out for us, not himself.

We’re so sorry for anyone who is upset by this. We support Elliot in anything he does in the future, and we ask that you do too. We will miss him dearly, but you can’t be mad or upset with someone who follows their heart. We started this band as best friends, and that’s how it will be no matter what happens, or what paths anyone decides to choose. Hats off to Elliot for getting through this crazy, hectic year with us. We love you.

On another note, our good friend Pat will be filling in for the All Time Low tour. Practice has been going really well, so be stoked! And give him a huge hug when you see him on the road for stepping it up for us. See you in a few days!

    Message from Elliot:

I cannot begin to thank everyone enough. You have all moved me in innumerable ways during the past year. Playing music, for every single one of us, has been a passion all of our lives; it’s what brought us together and made us friends in the first place. It’s been a hard decision but I have decided to part ways with Hey Monday.

I have no doubt in my mind that Hey Monday will go on to conquer amazing heights and continue to pursue their dreams, like I am doing with mine. It has, by no means, been easy to walk away from them… but all the endless support I’ve had from them, and everyone we work with, has allowed me to do so with my head high. My future plans, as well as Hey Monday’s, will begin to take hold in the next coming months. Finally, please keep your eyes on heymondaymusic.com and iamelliotjames.com to keep up with the band as well as what my future holds!

    Graciously,

    -EL

    Oh Hey... Monday!

Let me rewind for a second…

Last fall, I was super excited to see We the Kings and The Academy Is… on Bill and Trav’s Bogus Journey tour. It was my first concert in Boston. One of the reasons I chose to go to school in a city was to be sure that I’d see amazing concerts. I saw this band on the bill that I haven’t heard of: Hey Monday. When I first listened to them, I thought they were OK, but not great… whatevs. So I get to the show with my friends, but the doors open late. I head into the venue before they do and as I walk up the stairs, I heard music playing… probably recorded. Wrong. Hey Monday started early because something happened at soundcheck. I bolted over to the stage to catch my best view and I was blown away. The band had half of their set cut and still went up there acting like they were having the time of their lives. In a cut-down three song set, I felt the energy they were giving off with every note they played as the concertgoers trickled in.

    Hey Monday November 2008

Ever since that show, my appreciation for the band grew greater each day. Every song off of Hold On Tight became catchier with every listen. Simply put, I became obsessed. I watched as the band grew as they toured with All Time Low in the winter and finally Fall Out Boy in the spring. I caught a glimpse at the tour routing and I was in luck. The band would be playing Bamboozle, which I obviously would not miss. Turns out, my luck wouldn’t end there. I was able to swing an interview with Elliot from the band.

After going through the chaos of trying to find a place to do the interview (music festivals are VERY picky about who they let backstage), we finally get through it and it turns out to be one of the best interviews I’ve ever done (which was a relief from a previous experience). My friend who recorded the whole thing came up to Elliot after it was over and just started going on about how nice he was, because it was a shock to both of us. I told him how I had played the band’s songs on the show and it was really cool to know that it was appreciated.

As I was at catering for another interview, I happened to run into Cassadee. I just said that I was really pumped for their set later in the day and she said “Thank You” like she really meant it… and that just made me feel really good. Of course, their set blew me away. Hearing the songs I’ve been obsessing over for the past year LIVE was unimaginable and an amazing experience (This time, they got to play their entire set).

So what’s the actual point to this story? Well… two weeks ago, I happened to be home for a family obligation. As I was driving in my car, a familiar song came on the radio. That song was Hey Monday’s “How You Love Me Now.” Although I have heard some of my favorite little-known bands play on the radio before, this felt like a different experience. It wasn’t like I was losing one of my unknown secrets to the mainstream. Because I’ve supported this band so strongly, I felt as if I played a part in getting them on the radio.

When I ended my cram jam last semester, I left off with the song “How You Love Me Now.” As I signed off, I specifically said “this band is a band to look out for.” And now, look where it ended up. I started this show just to share music that I think is cool with the rest of BU and anyone else who will give me their time. I’m not out to take credit for giving you “the next big thing.” I want to share good music, music that makes you say, “Wow, That’s Legit.” My experiences with the band showed me that they are really cool people and it just felt good to see that cool people were getting what they deserved.

So keep supporting your favorite bands, and this one. Hey Monday is an amazing group and deserve everything they’re getting. Just because they’re on radio, doesn’t mean they’re not cool. I will support this band to the best of my abilities and I hope that you can too.

    Whoa oh, whoaaa ohh!
